Landfill Management

Landfill Compaction
Kavanaugh supplies and operates landfill compactors to crush and compress existing waste in landfill cells.
Our experienced operators use specialized waste compaction methods to increase landfill capacity and reduce costs. Our compactors can be mobilized to community landfills in the NWT. Proper and efficient compaction techniques can extend the life of a landfill and reduce operational expenses.
Waste Shredding
With over 55 years of experience in the waste industry, Kavanaugh has the knowledge, equipment and experience required
to execute waste reduction solutions, such as tire and waste shredding. Using our specialized equipment, waste is shredded to improve airspace utilization in landfills and can even be shredded to meet reuse and recycling specifications.
Waste suitable for shredding include: tires, mattresses, concrete, asphalt and construction & demolition materials.
Grinding Services
Kavanaugh performs grinding of clean wood, brush, pallet wood, and other materials. Ground materials can provide cost savings and waste diversion tactics all in one.
The Kavanaugh grinder is a mobile unit that can be brought to other community landfills to create ground wood for their compost programs, mulch, or even to create fuel source initiatives or minimize other forms of waste.
Demolition
Kavanaugh has the required specialized equipment to provide demolition services to both small and large projects.

Recycling Programs
Kavanaugh oversees recycling, compost, and waste identification programs for several offices in Yellowknife, NT.
Our services include providing proper bins, signage and education sessions, as well as scheduled recycling, compost and solid waste collection through our partnership with Inclusion NWT’s EmployABILITY division.
